We wanted our community purpose to capture our essence today, be bold and courageous, and inspire future generations of practitioners to go beyond into uncharted territory.

That’s why our purpose has a core + two ripples.

At our core, we are a free global community of practice for L&D practitioners.

By L&D, for L&D. No price tags. We build our own ever-evolving learning ecosystem to hone our craft and become the best versions of ourselves.

This is our bread and butter, and we’ll remain true to this identity forever.

Ripples into the industry

But we don’t stop here.

We want our collective impact to spill beyond our community walls, into the L&D industry. Driven by our values, we debate and challenge the industry status quo, research, set new practice standards, and intentionally share access to our ecosystem, artefacts, and lessons learned with the entire L&D industry.

Visionary Shakers will use their curiosity and ambition to act locally, regionally, and globally and help build a better world through education, in collaboration with other communities, NGOs, and organizations.

These satellite projects will be our small way to create ripples of change and impact in the world.

We believe a strong community is built on shared values.

We wanted our community values to be simple and straightforward, so that each Shaker can find themselves in them, one way or another. You are encouraged to make these your own and decide what each one of them means to you personally and what excites you about them.
