Determine your goal for the session
This could be a specific challenge you currently face, or a goal you are working towards. Your focus might also be simply wanting a space to explore your thoughts and feelings regarding something happening in your life at the moment.
Although you might have several topics you want to work through, keep in mind the importance of coming to each session with one specific area of focus and intention. You are setting the agenda so you get what you need from your time together with the coach.
And remember, all coaching sessions remain strictly confidential.
Check the tech
We recommend you login in a couple of minutes before the session, using the link in the invitation.
Also, check the battery of your laptop or phone to make sure you don't have to worry about that and can focus the conversation with your coach.
Take notes
Be prepared to take notes of any new insights you will gain during the session. You will most probably decide on some future actions you want to take and it's useful to write them down so that you remember.
Open up
Prepare yourself to be vulnerable with your coach. Connection and trust between the coach and coachee are crucial. Your coach will ask you thought-provoking, inspiring, challenging and supportive questions to help you identify the root of the issue and explore possibilities. When you provide honest and transparent answers, you will have more meaningful results.
Embrace change
As you work on achieving your goals, your coach will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone. To accomplish your goals, a change will be often needed in your behaviour, mindset or beliefs. This takes intentional effort. Your coach will be there to guide you through this process.
Plan some time to reflect after the session
Right after the session, you might be full of ideas and energy, or you may be processing some deeper thoughts and feelings that have come up. If you can, allow yourself some time after the session or during the following few days so you can reflect and make sense of everything you have discovered.
