The L&D Shapers Mentoring Program is designed to connect professionals, allowing them to network and build mutually beneficial relationships.

What is Mentoring?

An experienced individual helps others develop their goals/ skills through time-limited, confidential, one-on-one conversations and/ or other learning activities.

A person's Mentor is someone who gives them help and advice over a period of time, whose life or work you value and admire, and whom you think might be a good guide.

Mentors provide guidance, advice, feedback, and support to the mentee, serving variously as role models, teachers, counselors, advisors, sponsors, advocates, and allies, depending on the goals and objectives negotiated with the Mentee.

Every mentoring relationship is different — some last for years while some last one coffee date. A long-term relationship may include a planned mentoring program. A short-term relationship may involve helping the mentee work through a specific problem.

In the end, Mentors have three things in common. They motivate, inspire, and support.

The difference between a Coach and a Mentor:

Are you ready to work with a Mentor?

A clear goal before approaching a Mentor is crucial for the session's success. You’re the one steering the conversation; the Mentor is there to support and share their best practices and advice to your challenge.

If you are feeling lost or sitting at a professional crossroads, consider working with a Coach first to regain clarity. Check out our “Coaching for L&D” project, or book an upcoming group Career Compass session with our Coaches.
